Nintendo and Sony sued over Wireless controllers.
Nintendo and Sony have had a few stirs with the law already regarding their controllers. Sony was first sued over the Dualshock rumble in their PS3 controller, then Nintendo was hit with a lawsuit regarding the B trigger on the Wii remote. But this time, it's about the wireless.
Quote: The patent--which was filed in January of 1996--covers a method for connecting devices to a system and sorting their inputs by means of hardware identification numbers tied to each transmission. According to the suit, Nintendo and Sony are violating the Copper Innovations Group's patent by making and selling their systems and controllers. The Wii Remote, Wii Nunchuk, Sixaxis controller, and Blu-ray Remote Control are all named in the suit as infringing products. If Nintendo and Sony lose, there is a chance that future Wii controllers will be manufactured without the wireless. Although this may not be a huge blow for the PS3, the Wii would struggle without wireless controllers. Sounds like another case of ''Hey, this company is making money off this product, lets sue them so we can take it.'' Is suing Nintendo and Sony really worth aggravating all the people who have bought the console? I didn't think so.
It was unspecified as to whether or not the Xbox 360 was effected by this. i got this from friendcodes.com this is just wrong the wii will not be the same if its not wireless.wat nintendo and sony are getting sued
Don't worry that kind of sueing is nothing. All the company wants is a part of the success of Nintendo. Nintendo will make a deal with them out court. wat nintendo and sony are getting sued
Yeah it's worse because it's always the same company doing it.
yeah hope so.
Yeah it's worse because it's always the same company doing it.
Last time was Immersion, this time it's Copper Innovations Group.

Well, is this documented? I don't really know if I trust friendcodes.com. But if it IS true, I'm sure if both Sony and Nintendo give a cut to Copper Innovations, and they'll be happy. I would hope so at least. I really doubt they care about the patent, they just see another chance to make money.
This is nothing, just some **** looking for money off of something so dumb and fake.
This is will be the only time we'll see Sony and Nintendo in thier current state, working together and this is true i was it in front page of Gamespot. Well its the little company vs.2 BIG companies. They are only sueing for the success of Nintendo and Sony which i find to be bull. Thier products been out for a year and they waited this long to sue.

If there's any merit to the case, Sony and Nintendo will probably settle out of court. They'll agree to buy the rights to use the technology, or they'll pay royalties. Maybe one of them will buy this little company.

old news where have you been
Unless this has to do with the bluetooth (which both Sony and Nintendo use, which I doubt it does), this company should be suing Microsoft also because they have a wireless controller. This lawsuit is BS and the company shouldn't win. The judge should be smart and dismiss it right away.-Shark2k

It would also explain why flashlights and lamps seem to pick up Wiimote movements. Anyways, if this does go through court, Sony and Nintendo have enough money just to buy the damn patent -_-. lol
In Sony's case, what goes around comes around. Lik-Sang vs. Sony of UK anyone?
hahaha hahah haha
hahahahahaha
ha haha haha hahahaha haha haha hahahaha
Yeah listening to vertigo.
This is ridiculous. People can become so desperate, that they become so funny!
