Female Gamers & Online

Ok this has been a hot button issue between my friends/myself/ and the entire gaming community for a good while. How come women have to be objectified while playing either online or anytime on a game? (Myself being male, it's not such a problem; Prob is with friends). Why do the majority of online gamers feel the need to act like a 4 year old when they either see female avatars or gamertags? I hate having some of my friends over and have to listen to immature rejects either make slander about female gamers, or ask for ''favors'' (usually resulting in us exiting the match). I am just wondering if there are a good ammount of female gamers out there, and how do you feel about the gender segregation of online play/personal experiences. Thanks, and this is just to give more feedback and awareness of online etiquete.Female Gamers %26amp; Online
I think a lot of people react this way because a lot of Gamers are fairly anti-social and don't have much interaction with the opposite sex. I'm not saying it's true for all, and am not trying to be stereotypical, but I know a lot of the people that are ''hardcore gamers'' at my school are very nerdy and usually stick to their own kind. I'm not saying that I'm a jock or am incredibly cool/good looking, but I wouldn't put myself into that category either. Female Gamers %26amp; Online
(just note that i am not a woman myself)yeah, i find it discusting, honestly some gamers can be perverted over the internet, on nsider i actualy had someone pm me asking if i was a chick, and if so was i ''hot'' because i had lucy from pokemon emerald as my arvatar. women are just as good as men, they just are naturaly the more atractive sex, and hence get more perverted coments, women do say perverted things about men, its justno were near as commen.
Welcome to the internet.Basically it's because girls don't usually play video games so when someone actually finds one in an online game, it's time to get wild so to speak >_>don't take it to heart man, like i said, it's da intawebs
Yeah that's why I don't like chat in online games just because of stuff like that, and what else would you say anyways?I think you will find though that women are objectified worldwide in almost every situation. It's not just the internet or online games my friend, but the entire male population seems to have a constant disrespect for the female gender and fixated completely on their own sexuality. Historically, this isn't a new concept though. I think unfortunately this will like continue as long as humans have communication.
Historically, this isn't a new concept though. I think unfortunately this will like continue as long as humans have communication.
Agreed, but things can change. But it will only change if people are ready to change. Unfortunately, the world is too immature to change at this point. I see this frequently on Rock Band's online where my friends are using their female avatars. Then once we get a match started, losers in the lobbies always try to ''seduce'' them. What has the world come to? Oh I know, desperation.
Yeah, I used to see a lot of this. Everytime there was a girl, some guys would start flipping out, hitting on her over the INTERNET. I mean wtf you don't even know the person. I usually defended the girl and told the guys to stfu and find a real girl to talk to (I only do it because I'm sick and tired of people flipping out when a girl plays games). It's funny to see guy reactions when girls play games GOOD, like DDR, there's this one girl I know, she's besatly at it like I am, lol all the guys are like ''OMG WTF SINCE WENZ DO GIRLZ PLAY TEH DDR'' -_-'.
''OMG WTF SINCE WENZ DO GIRLZ PLAY TEH DDR'' -_-'.
Since when do girls play DDR? J/, but I know what you mean. Desperation is a sad thing, and why do others feel the need to bring it into our gaming time? I don't know, but if they are too lazy to go find their own girl, then they definitely shouldn't come online with their woes. At least some people are respectful online.
people are idiots thats why. I've encountered many female games via steam, many good ones too -- my clan had at least 5-6 females in it, none of which were every made fun of.

The losers who make fun or do all the garbage above should just join the match and witness before they pull out the idiocy. At least some people have manners when it comes to gaming.
Those guys are funny, whenever i play cod 4 and theres a woman in the room one of the following would happen.First of all they ask if the person even is a girlThey ask for her age and or location ask if they can be her friendThey usually dont talk to girls in real life so they try to get one over teh internets, and they some are just plain socially akward.

i think this about sums it up http://www.xkcd.com/322/

Hellow...I think that the issue is an issue bc we, women make to big deal about it.If a guy start being annoying, flirting, asking for address, asking for a date. Be annoying yourself (without getting piss off), flirt back, give your ''address'', say ''yes'' to the date. Is like when you where in highschool, who were the kids that were the victims for all the bad jokes?? Those that where piss off about it... Those that laught and play back, well it was no fun.Now that is just imo.. and i`m a women so.. I`m pretty sure that some guy would keep going anyway. But imo they are less. And btw: so glad to find a topic like this in here :D there is hope  :PSee you around
